Tony Viana qualified first in class B, followed by teammate Deon Joubert, Gary Dunkerley, Johann Coetzee and Larry Wilford. At the start of heat 1, Viana and Joubert stayed up at the front, while Larry Wilford got ahead of Dunkerley and Johan Coetzee. Viana pulled away from the other class B cars, and Dunkerley passed Joubert to take second place down the back straight. The Porsche pulled into the pits with clutch failure, and Joubert re-took second place. Viana finished first in class B, followed by Joubert, Johan Coetzee and Larry Wilford.

In heat 2, Viana led Joubert in the two BMWs to win well ahead of Johann Coetzee in third place, and Terry Wilford in fourth.
